The Frost School of Music presents composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich as part of the 2011-2012 Stamps Family Distinguished Visitors Series. Zwilich will conduct a free lecture and a Q&A session followed by a student performance of chamber works on Friday, March 2 at 8 p.m. at Maurice Gusman Concert Hall on the Coral Gables campus. Zwilich is a Pulitzer Prize-winning and multi-Grammy-nominated composer. She is currently the Francis Eppes Professor at Florida State University’s School of Music. Her easily identifiable music is widely performed and recorded by leading orchestras and chamber ensembles around the world. Her distinct sound is known for its happy tone of “technical excellence” that appeals to mixed audiences.
