Working in a Team Environment

This course is designed to give you the necessary knowledge and tools to work effectively in a team environment. You will identify the elements of a high-performing team and learn to stimulate innovative thinking and collaboration when working on group projects. In addition, you will learn to delegate tasks effectively within your team and evaluate yourself in a team environment. The course will be held on Tuesday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Dominion Tower, Room 155, on the Miller School campus. Register through ULearn. Please note that the prerequisite CBL (online module) with the same title must be completed prior to registering to the live session.

Peer Coaching

This course, offered through the Professional Development and Training Program in partnership with the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program), is designed for emerging leaders who want to learn the basics for and skills associated with peer coaching. The course will teach participants how to define coaching and distinguish it from supervision. Participants also will learn how to distinguish between criticism and feedback and will be given the opportunity to provide feedback to colleagues. The course will be held on Tuesday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Dominion Tower on the Miller School of Medicine campus. Register through ULearn.

Hussman Institute-Bascom Palmer Joint Lecture: Translational Opportunities in Ophthalmic Genetics

UM Wellness Centers to Hold Pep Rallies for Corporate Run/Walk

University of Miami Coach Al Golden knows how to energize a team—only this time it’s not a football squad, but Team UM for the 2012 Corporate Run/Walk. Join Golden and the Herbert Wellness Center staff for a pep rally at the University Center Rock on Wednesday, March 7 at 12 p.m. The pep rally will feature games, prizes, and dance performances by University students and instructors. The Medical Wellness Center also will hold a pep rally for the 2012 Corporate Run/Walk. Miller School of Medicine Dean Pascal J. Goldschmidt is scheduled to speak at the medical campus pep rally on Tuesday, March 6 at 4:15 p.m. in the quadrangle.

The Corporate Run/Walk takes place on April 26 at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami beginning at 6:20 p.m.

American Studies Program Spring Speaker Series: Gilgamesh on Three Continents

Wai Chee Dimock, William Lampson Professor of English and American Studies at Yale University, will present “Gilgamesh on Three Continents” on Tuesday, March 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Richter Library, third-floor conference room, as part of the American Studies Program Spring Speaker Series.
