Research shows that meditation is good for the body as well as the mind. Learn how to meditate by attending any or all of the free meditation classes offered at the Herbert Wellness Center this summer. The class is open to everyone, from those who practice meditation on a regular basis to those interested in learning how.
Learn to Meditate: Tuesday, June 16 and Tuesday, July 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Classroom 2
Take a Meditation Break: Friday, July 17 from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Room

What may have seemed like science fiction–surgery without an incision–is now a reality that is making lives better for patients suffering from chronic acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Jose Martinez, surgeon and co-director of laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, and surgical endoscopy at the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery at the Miller School of Medicine is the first in Miami to offer the TIF (transoral incisionless fundoplication) procedure for the treatment of GERD.
