Donald Weed, associate professor of otolaryngology, and Bjorn Herman, a resident in otolaryngology, will present “Invasive Fungal Sinusitis/Mucormycosis” on Thursday, June 25 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Clinical Research Building, Room 989. By attending the lecture, participants will understand the work-up for a thyroid nodule, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of medullary thyroid carcinoma. In today’s fast-paced workplace, office etiquette is more important than ever, and how you present yourself makes as big an impression as your office skills. As part of an audio conference Lunch and Learn Series, the Professional Development and Training Office is offering “Etiquette for Today’s Office.” Participants will learn what is and isn’t appropriate for business, how to handle difficult people with tact and finesse, how to avoid common dining etiquette faux pas, and the do’s and don’ts of effective communication. The National Sleep Foundation’s annual poll shows that about 30 percent of individuals in the United States are currently losing sleep over financial concerns. Lack of sleep can contribute to a number of other serious health problems. So whether your sleep is being disrupted by stress, summer travel and jet lag, or other factors, it’s important to address the issue with a physician to determine the best options for improving your sleep.
The multidisciplinary team of specialists and technologists at the University of Miami Health System Sleep Medicine Program provides expert evaluation and comprehensive treatment of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia, and restless legs syndrome.
To raise awareness of the importance of sleep to your overall health, the UHealth Sleep Medicine Program will host a booth at the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center on the Coral Gables campus on Thursday, June 25. UHealth sleep experts will offer the following services from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:

Estate planning is a process that allows you to make decisions today that affect the future of your family. Whether you are a young family with children at home or a retiree living out your golden years, estate planning is something everyone should consider.
The Employee Assistance Program is offering an Estate Planning Seminar for those interested in learning basic estate planning principles. Mark Marandino, a volunteer with the United Way of Miami-Dade, will review wills and trusts, insurance and retirement assets, living wills, avoiding probate, power of attorney, estate tax planning, and guardianships for minors.

The Office of Research Information Management is offering a Velos Patient Management Workshop designed to teach study team members, coordinators, research nurses, and all study personnel how the system can help them manage patients. Patient enrollment, patient status management, and patient calendars will be discussed during this hands-on module. The workshop will be held on Thursdays, June 18 and 25, and July 2 and 9 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Dominion Towers, tenth-floor training room.
