Anesthesiology Grand Rounds: Diving and Submarine Medicine: Clinical Problems Shared with Anesthesia

The Department of Anesthesiology will present grand rounds on Thursday, April 8, from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m. in the Rosenstiel Medical Science Building, third-floor auditorium. Massimo Ferrigno, assistant professor, anaesthesia, Harvard Medical School, will present “Diving and Submarine Medicine: Clinical Problems Shared with Anesthesia.”

The Launch Pad Distinguished Fellow Amar Bhidé to discuss finance and entrepreneurship

The University of Miami’s Launch Pad, the first college entrepreneurship program in the country that is offered as part of the University’s career center, will hold its first lecture by Distinguished Fellow Amar Bhidé, in which he will discuss his forthcoming book, A Call for Judgment: Sensible Finance for a Dynamic Economy, scheduled to be published by Oxford University Press in September.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in Shoma Hall at the UM School of Communication, with a reception starting at 6 p.m.

Bhidé, who has been studying entrepreneurship for more than 20 years, is a member of the Center on Capitalism and Society and spearheaded the launch of its eponymous journal, Capitalism and Society (published by the Berkeley Electronic Press), which he now edits with Professor Edmund Phelps. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Bhidé served on the faculties of Harvard Business School from 1988 to 2000 and the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. A former senior engagement manager at McKinsey & Company and proprietary trader at E.F. Hutton, Bhidé served on the staff of the Brady Commission, which investigated the stock market crash. Bhidé earned a D.B.A. (1988) and an M.B.A. with high distinction as a Baker Scholar (1979) from Harvard. He received a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1977.
