The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Program (MALS) will host an information session for prospective applicants on Monday, April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the College of Arts and Sciences Gallery, located in the Wesley Center on Stanford Drive. The MALS Program is designed for the returning student who seeks to develop the critical thinking that marks a truly educated person—for the self-motivated person who never stops asking why. The 30-credit program taught by leading faculty members offers convenient evening class hours. The number of credits taken each semester is flexible and courses are offered in all semesters. The Master of Arts in International Administration (MAIA) will host a question-and-answer session for prospective applicants on Monday, April 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the McKnight Building, Suite 102. MAIA is a University-wide professional international relations program that combines international relations theory with practice and coursework in administration, management, and economics. It is a 30-credit program that can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis, with core courses generally offered weekday evenings. Reservations are required. Sponsored by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), this seminar, to be presented on all three University of Miami campuses during the week of April 19, provides participants with valuable information regarding basic consumer rights, and reviews how the Miami-Dade County Consumer Services Department can best serve your needs. Sonya Perez, public relations and outreach specialist for the Miami-Dade Consumer Services Department, will present information on a broad range of consumer-related issues. Participants will review: basic consumer rights; consumer protection laws; consumer tips on store refund polices, car rentals, bait-and-switch sales tactics, tourist traps, and restaurants; and enforcement of county regulations on towing, motor vehicle repair shops, locksmiths, for-hire transportation, and water re-metering.

The School of Nursing and Health Studies, School of Education, Miller School of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, and Office of Research will host a Collaborative Research Exchange Forum on “Community-Linked Research: Opportunities and Challenges” on Monday, April 19 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Hurricane 100 Room at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center.
The goals of the forum are to bring together faculty and researchers who partner with the community to do their work, educate each other about activities related to community linked-research across the University, and develop research collaborations.
