Be Seen Being Green seminar

Learn about practical green-living solutions at the Be Seen Being Green seminar on Thursday, April 15 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at Storer Auditorium. In addition to lively panel discussions from invited “green” experts, the seminar will include several contests and raffles for attendees to win eco-friendly prizes such as solar-powered chargers, spa treatments, fashionable bags, and a pair of tickets to the Be Seen Being Green concert with headliners Trey Songz and Fabolous on April 16. UM faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend the free event.

Persia White, an animal welfare and environmental activist and board member of the Humane Society of the United States, will host the event. Scheduled speakers include veteran filmmaker Dale Bell, whose productions with fellow filmmaker Harry Wiland have won numerous honors, including an Academy Award, five Emmys, and a Peabody; Apple Levy, founder of The GreenGirls.com; Miami Beach Commissioner Jonah Wolfson; Daniell Washington, a University of Miami alumnus and founder and CEO of the Big Blue and You Foundation; and Stephanie Owens, director of public engagement in the office of the administrator at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Theta Healing lecture at Medical Wellness Center

Wellness instructor Maria Forest will speak about Theta Healing, a technique for achieving physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation by identifying and releasing negative patterns. Benefits of the practice may include an enhanced ability to create financial wealth, shed unwanted pounds, heal the body by releasing energetic emotions and trauma, find a soul mate, and accelerate personal growth and spirituality. UResearch Web site demonstration to be conducted on Miller School campus

Attend this demonstration of the new Office of Research Web site to learn how to access helpful resources for faculty, staff, students and post-docs, research partners, and study participants. The demonstration, which takes place on Thursday, April 15 at 12 p.m. in the Dominion Towers, 12th-floor conference room, will show you how to:

• Find information about getting started, award administration, research integrity, technology advancement, education and training, policies and forms, resources, and jobs.

• Use the homepage to find funding, join a listserv, log into the research reporting system and UM’s electronic research administration (eRA) tools, find biomedical collaborators or mentors, read UM research administration news and announcements from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, provide feedback on research policies, and learn about featured scholars.
