CPR training available at the Medical Wellness Center

Detoxification: Why and How?

Aqua training demonstration at Medical Wellness Center

Corrective exercise specialist Fernanda Uribe will give an aqua training demonstration on Wednesday, February 17 from 12:10 to 12:45 p.m. in the aqua therapy pool at the Medical Wellness Center. The demonstration will cover why water is an ideal weight-training machine, show how to use the natural resistance of water to stimulate both cardio-respiratory and muscular-endurance conditioning, and teach participants how to raise their fitness level. University launches Well ’Canes


The University of Miami has taken a major step to boost the health of and decrease the chances of serious illness among its workers and their family members: an extensive employee wellness program that includes educational, preventive, and fitness components.

Fitness programs and exercise classes at both the Coral Gables Herbert Wellness Center and the Miller School campus Medical Wellness Center are a component of the new Well ’Canes program.

Vending machines that dispense bananas, apples, and oranges. Bundled meals of healthy, low-calorie foods that come with a bottle of water. A health coach who calls you at home to remind and encourage you to maintain a proper diet and exercise regimen.

Programs, perks, and amenities usually found only in high-end health clubs have now found their way to the University of Miami. The institution has taken a major step toward improving the overall health of its workers and their family members, rolling out a new employee wellness program that includes everything from cooking and exercise classes to free preventive care measures.

Jiu Jitsu self-defense classes at Medical Wellness Center


Self-defense classes will start February 2 at the Medical Wellness Center, with Fight Sports South Beach conducting sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Come and experience a reality-based class that simulates real-life confrontations. Techniques demonstrated will include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, mixed martial arts, and general self-defense. The monthly fee for Medical Wellness Center members is $50; $70 for non-members.
