Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work takes the audience on a yearlong ride with legendary comedian Joan Rivers in her 76th year of life. Peeling away the mask of an iconic comedian and exposing the struggles, sacrifices, and joy of living life as a groundbreaking female performer, the film is an emotionally surprising and revealing portrait of one the most hilarious and durable women in the history of comedy. The film screens on Friday, July 2 at 9 p.m.; Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m.; Sunday, July 4 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.; and Monday, July 5 through Thursday, July 8 at 8 p.m. Admission is $6 for UM faculty, staff, non-UM students, seniors, and alumni; free for UM students. Simplifying the Management of Complex HIV Data will be held on Wednesday, July 7 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Clinical Research Building, Conference Room 989. This seminar program will inform HIV clinicians, laboratory workers, and researchers about the practical benefits and features of SmartGene HIV, which include: management and analysis of multiple HIV targets (RT, PR, integrase, gp41, gp120, etc.); automated sequence re-interpretation and cumulative resistance reporting; and mutation searches/statistics and advanced epidemiological analysis. The presentation by David Ellis, president of SmartGene, Inc., will be followed by a question-and-answer session. A boxed lunch will be served.
