Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work takes the audience on a yearlong ride with legendary comedian Joan Rivers in her 76th year of life. Peeling away the mask of an iconic comedian and exposing the struggles, sacrifices, and joy of living life as a groundbreaking female performer, the film is an emotionally surprising and revealing portrait of one the most hilarious and durable women in the history of comedy. The film screens on Friday, July 2 at 9 p.m.; Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m.; Sunday, July 4 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.; and Monday, July 5 through Thursday, July 8 at 8 p.m. Admission is $6 for UM faculty, staff, non-UM students, seniors, and alumni; free for UM students. This lunchtime seminar, offered by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), explores useful tools for successfully managing money and avoiding credit problems. Understand how credit use builds a positive credit history and know your credit rights. Explore ways to minimize your risk for identity theft, the nation’s fastest-growing federal crime, and discover the importance of creating and adhering to a functional budget. Bill Plough, certified credit counselor with Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc., will help participants build their control over money and develop a proactive plan for creating a successful financial future.
