Mercy is a lush indie romance from actor/writer/producer Scott Caan, in an amazing transition from the world of fashion photography to filmmaking. The film follows Johnny Ryan (Caan), a successful young romance novelist who, as it happens, doesn’t actually believe in love. At the launch party for his latest book, Johnny’s world is suddenly turned upside down by the beautiful and mysterious Mercy, the only major critic who dislikes his work. Featuring an on-screen collaboration between Scott and his father, actor James Caan, and a supporting cast that includes Dylan McDermott and Erika Christensen, Mercy explores the struggle of maintaining a relationship and the possibility of losing it all. The film screens on Friday, July 16 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.; and Sunday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Admission is $6 for seniors, University of Miami alumni, faculty, non UM-students, and staff; free for UM students.
