In this event, hosted by the Instructional Advancement Center, Rodney Sims, account executive of XanEdu Publishing, Inc., will provide an overview of the Digital Transformation Spectrum of best practices. Learn practical “how-to” advice for advancing to the next level(s), view an iPad demo using course packs, and explore how leading institutions have engaged students, faculty, and IT departments around common digital initiatives. The class will be held on Tuesday, March 20 from 12 to 4 p.m. in the University Center, Room 226A.

For more information on this event, contact Rodney Sims at 734-476-4933, e-mail [email protected], or visit www2.xanedu.com/folio-x. To register, please visit http://www.iacmiami.org/a/events. Refreshments will be served.

Workshop on Bad Practices in Technology-Enhanced Learning Begins Friday

2:30 pm

Technology, like the Blackboard class website system, can enhance learning when it is used appropriately, or interfere with learning when used inappropriately. A new workshop series, “Bad Practices in Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL),” will begin on Friday, February 24 and March 9 with “Don’t Focus on the Goals,” from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Richter Library, Faculty Exploratory, Room 305. Using Blackboard without focusing on the goals is one way to interfere with learning. This collaborative workshop will demonstrate the behavior, discuss ways to avoid it, and then provide brief hands-on practice in techniques that can help you implement the good habit of focusing on goals. Participation is limited. Sign up is required. To sign up, visit www.iacevents.org and click on the session title. For questions or accommodations, contact Kelley Seaman at [email protected] or 305-284-2008.
