Matthias Scheutz, of the Departments of Informatics, Computer Science, and Cognitive Science at Indiana University, will present “DIARC: Steps Toward Integrated Cognitive NLP Architecture for Human-Robot Interaction” on Wednesday, January 20 at 3:30 p.m. in Room MEA202 of the McArthur Engineering Annex. Professor Scheutz will present his latest work on an incremental NLP system integrated into a robotic DIARC architecture, which is heavily based on findings in psycholinguistics about the nature of lexical, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic processing and its relation to action execution. The University of Miami community will hold a candlelight vigil for Haiti’s quake victims on Wednesday, January 20 at 8 p.m. at the University Center Rock. Other events are also being planned as UM continues to reach out to the crisis-hit nation with donations, medical assistance from Miller School physicians, and other relief efforts.
