The Division of Hospital Medicine will host Grand Rounds on Tuesday, February 2 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Central Building, second-floor auditorium. This seminar, presented by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) in partnership with The Families First Network and The Children’s Trust, provides parents and caregivers of children ages birth to 5 the opportunity to learn positive parenting strategies to promote appropriate behaviors and reduce problematic behaviors. Parents and caregivers will discuss ways to manage temper tantrums and other attention-seeking behaviors and will learn techniques to reinforce positive behaviors effectively. A child development specialist from The Families First Network will lead the seminar.

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Division of Infectious Disease ID/HIV and the Developmental Center for AIDS Research (DCFAR) presents its Grand Rounds Seminar Series: “The Role of Monocytes and Macrophages in HIV-1 Infection.” The presenter is Helena Schmidtmayerova, research assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics and John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics will host a seminar by Juan I. Young, assistant professor in the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics. Young will present “Epigenetics Over Epigenetics: Environmental Attenuation of Disease Course in a Mouse Model of Rett Syndrome” on Tuesday, February 2 at 4 p.m. in the Mailman Center for Child Development, eighth-floor auditorium.

Two Sponsored Programs Screens classroom training sessions for individuals with DMAS/FRS access to sponsored accounts have been scheduled for February. Registration is through ULearn at http://ulearn.miami.edu.
The first session takes place Tuesday, February 2 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Miller School campus Professional Development and Training Office, Dominion Towers Parking Garage Building, first floor, Room 155.
A second session will be available on Thursday, February 25 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Coral Gables campus Professional Development and Training Office, Max Orovitz Building, first floor, Room 139.
In addition to a review of Sponsored Program screens in DMAS and FRS, sessions will include discussions of SPM access features for users of DMAS and FRS; post-award accounting, such as the award reimbursement method; and FAQs on topics such as cost share and guarantee data.
