Evidence-based care is focus of School of Education lecture

Abe Wandersman, a community psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of South Carolina, will present “Promoting Real Use of Evidence-Based Approaches: New Ways to Bridge Research and Practice” on Thursday, February 18 at 4 p.m. at the M. Christine Schwartz Center for Nursing and Health Studies, Room 428. The lecture is sponsored by the School of Education’s Dunspaugh-Dalton Community and Educational Well-Being Research Center, with support from the School of Nursing and Health Studies. Wandersman is coauthor of Prevention Plus III and a coeditor of Empowerment Evaluation: Knowledge and Tools for Self Assessment and Accountability. In 1998 he received the Myrdal Award for Evaluation Practice from the American Evaluation Association. In 2000 he served as president of Division 27 of the American Psychological Association (Community Psychology), The Society for Community Research and Action. In 2008 the American Evaluation Association honored his manual Getting to Outcomes 2004: Promoting Accountability Through Methods and Tools for Planning, Implementing, and Evaluation with its Outstanding Publication Award.
