9:00 am

U.S. Student Fulbright Program Representative Walter Jackson will visit the University of Miami on Tuesday, September 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Aresty Graduate Building, Room 331, to conduct a guidance session for students interested in applying for the Fulbright grants. The Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s flagship program in international educational exchange, was proposed by Senator J. William Fulbright to the U.S. Congress in the aftermath of World War II as a much-needed vehicle for promoting “mutual understanding between people of the Unites States and the people of other countries of the world.” The Fulbright Program awards approximately 6,000 new grants annually to support an individually designed study/research plan, artistic project, or teaching assistantship that will take place during one academic year in a country outside the U.S. This information session will cover program basics, the ins and outs of the application process, and will help students begin to organize their proposals. Faculty members, directors of undergraduate studies, and advisors are encouraged to attend to learn how to better mentor and connect students to the educational opportunities available through this prestigious scholarship program.
