Alba Rosa Viëtor was a world-class violinist and pianist, touring the world and studying under the finest instructors throughout the 20th century. She always experimented with composing, but it was in her later years, after her performance career, that she really focused on her compositions. As someone who was born in Italy; lived in Uruguay, Argentina, and the United States; spoke Italian, Spanish, French, and English; and married a Dutchman, Viëtor’s music reflects traditions from around the world as well as from her classical upbringing to produce a modern, international, unique sound.
Attend the third concert of the Alba Rosa Viëtor Concert Series, titled Volume of the Violin, on Wednesday, September 29 at 8 p.m. in Clarke Recital Hall. It will feature selections of her challenging and virtuosic violin works played by distinguished doctoral students of the Frost School of Music. Admission is free.
