Blood drive at the Herbert Wellness Center

The Community Blood Centers of South Florida will conduct a blood drive at the Herbert Wellness Center on Monday and Tuesday, August 3 and 4. If you would like to donate, please stop by between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Donors will receive a T-shirt, Subway sub, and a thank-you pack. To preregister for your donation, log on to www.cbcsf.org. Learn about opportunities in biomedical nanoscience during upcoming retreat

The Biomedical Nanoscience Initiative of the University of Miami (BioNIUM) Retreat, themed “Small Solutions to Big Problems,” takes place Monday and Tuesday, August 3 and 4  at the BankUnited Center, Hurricane 100 Room. The course runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The workshop organizers are Richard Cote, professor and chair of the Department of Pathology and Ram Datar, research associate professor of pathology. The purpose of this retreat is to inform investigators from across the medical and engineering campuses of recent advances and opportunities in biomedical nanoscience. The development of processes of microfabrication, microfluidics, and nanotechnology are revolutionizing the field of portable and implantable biomedical devices. Leading investigators in the field of Biomedical Nanoscience will address the audience and introduce their fascinating research achievements in the area.  Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows with active interest in the field are encouraged to attend.
