The Division of Hospital Medicine will present Grand Rounds on Tuesday, May 11 at 12 p.m. in University of Miami Hospital Seminar Centers A and B, first floor. Rafael Campo, professor of clinical medicine, will present “General Medicine Practices for HIV-Infected Patients 2010.” By attending this lecture, participants will learn current recommendations for baseline testing, laboratory assessments, and evaluation for co-morbid conditions for HIV-infected patients; discover details about the current recommendations for when to initiate antiretroviral therapy and which agents are preferred as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services; and obtain clarity on general management approaches for ongoing risk evaluation, laboratory assessments, and clinical considerations for co-morbidities in the HIV-infected patient. The lecture is designed for family practitioners, emergency physicians, surgeons, internists, and hospitalists. The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Hao will present “The Effect of Herpes Simplex Virus Vector-Mediated Gene Transfer of Soluble TNF Receptor on Neuropathic Pain, Morphine Tolerance and Withdrawal in Rats” on Tuesday, May 11 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Rosenstiel Medical Science Building, Room 6018.
