Set in the 1930’s Manchurian desert, where lawlessness rules and many different ethnic groups clash, strangers engage in a chase across Manchuria to take possession of a mysterious map. Also on the hunt for the map are the Japanese army and Asian bandits. In this unpredictable, escalating battle, who will stand in the end as the winner? A psychological mystery starring Steve Buscemi, Jamey Sheridan, and Campbell Scott about lost love, forgiveness, and the stifling effect the “code of silence” has over men and their relationships. At 52, “Handsome Harry” (Jamey Sheridan), a Vietnam veteran, has kept his rugged good looks. One day, Harry gets a call from a former Navy buddy, Tom Kelly (Buscemi), whom he hasn’t seen in some 30 years. On his deathbed and terrified of going to Hell, Kelly convinces Harry to seek forgiveness on his behalf from a comrade they betrayed long ago, David Kagan (Scott). Neurology Grand Rounds-CME Lecture: The Vascular Contribution to Alzheimer’s Dementia: Past, Present, and Future

Jose Luchsinger, assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a researcher at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain, will present “The Vascular Contribution to Alzheimer’s Dementia: Past, Present and Future” on Friday, May 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Clinical Research Building, room 989. The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Optimizing Your Health through Proper Nutrition and Exercise

This seminar, offered by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) in partnership with the Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, provides participants with guidelines for achieving optimal health. Forget diets and counting calories. Forget thinking that you need to train like a professional or Olympic athlete. If you are willing to unlearn what you have learned from years of misinformation and propaganda from the mass media, then you can follow very simple principles to eating and exercising that will put you in a state of optimal health.

If you eat a mostly whole-food, plant-based diet and follow a consistent and intense exercise program that includes cardiovascular and strength conditioning, then you will be healthy and free from chronic disease. The scheduled presenter is John E. Lewis, assistant professor, director of research for complementary and integrative medicine, and associate director of the Medical Wellness Center.

Coral Gables campus: Tuesday, May 25 from 12 to 1 p.m., University Center Flamingo Ballroom A.

Rosenstiel School campus: Wednesday, May 26 from 12 to 1 p.m., Library Map and Chart Room.
