Epidemiology and Public Health Grand Rounds: The Challenges of Health Care Reform for Public Health

May
19
12:15 pm

University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala, who in 1993 was appointed by President Bill Clinton as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and served in that role for eight years, will discuss “The Challenges of Health Care Reform for Public Health” during Epidemiology and Public Health Grand Rounds on Wednesday, May 19 from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at the Lois Pope LIFE Center, seventh-floor auditorium.

After decades of attempts and a year of battling differences, legislation was signed in March to overhaul the nation’s health care system and guarantee access to medical insurance for tens of millions of Americans. The Health Care Reform Bill barely begins a long journey to significantly increase coverage, prevention, and investments in public health. What is next?
