Sea Secrets ends its semester-long series of lectures with one of the most thought-provoking topics facing Floridians today: Will sea level rise cause the flooding of our shores? Peter Ward, professor of paleontology at the University of Washington, will address that question at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, 4600 Rickenbacker Causeway, on Wednesday, May 18 at 6 p.m. His lecture, which will be held in the Rosenstiel School Auditorium, will be preceded by a reception at 5:30 p.m.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences will host Grand Rounds on Wednesday, May 18 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s Retter Auditorium. Jon Shaw, professor and director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Miller School of Medicine, will present on “Is It Juvenile Bipolar Disorder or Severe Mood Disregulation?” The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Melanoma Awareness Day, which will feature information booths and a presentation by Professor of Medicine Lynn Feun, of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Miller School, will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Feun will present “Treatment of Melanoma” from 1 to 2 p.m. in Sylvester Conference Room 1301. Information booths on skin care and melanoma prevention will be available in both the Sylvester and UMHC lobbies from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
