This seminar, offered through the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), provides participants with valuable information regarding government programs and grants available for first-time homebuyers. Kevin Maher, director of community education for Consumer Credit Management Services, will help attendees understand how to build the credit necessary to qualify for home ownership. Eric Johnson, housing assistance programs administrator for the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust, will inform participants of the money available to Miami-Dade residents and will provide guidelines for those interested in applying to receive available funds.

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine will host grand rounds on Tuesday, May 24 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Lois Pope LIFE Center, seventh-floor Apex Center. Nicholas Namias, professor of surgery and anesthesiology and chief of the Division of Trauma at the Miller School of Medicine, will present “Considerations in Burns.” The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

The Equality Administration Office will host two sexual harassment seminars. On Monday, May 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the seminar will be presented in Storer Auditorium on the Coral Gables campus; on Tuesday, May 24 from 8:30 to 11 a.m., the seminar will take place in Retter Auditorium on the Miller School of Medicine campus. The seminars are designed for senior administrators, faculty, deans, vice presidents, human resource representatives, and sexual harassment counselors.
Guest speaker Susan Toepfer, attorney with Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., will present on recent sexual harassment court decisions, trends, and academic issues, and will discuss behaviors or situations that may constitute sexual harassment.
