Cosford screening: ‘A Woman in Berlin’

A Woman in Berlin is set in 1945 during the Red Army invasion of Berlin, when women were victims of rape and devastation. One of these women is Anonyma (Nina Hoss), who had been a journalist and photographer. In her desperation, she decides to look for an officer who can protect her. She meets Russian officer Andrej (Evgeny Sidikhin) and their encounter develops into a complex symbiotic relationship that forces them to remain enemies until the bitter end. The film is in German and Russian with English subtitles. Admission is $6 for all University of Miami alumni, faculty, and staff, and is free for students. General admission is $8. School of Nursing and Health Studies to co-sponsor conference focusing on violence against women

The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies in collaboration with the Nursing Network on Violence against Women International will host a conference from October 1-3 on “Trajectories for Change: Creating Culturally Meaningful Interventions to Prevent and Reduce Violence.” The conference will be attended by researchers, clinicians, program implementers, and policymakers from across the U.S. and other nations to present the latest findings on prevention and treatment of violence against women and children.
