8th Annual Miami Short Film Festival

The 8th Annual Miami Short Film Festival, presented by the University of Miami School of Communication, will run from Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 22 with the opening night Green Carpet Gala on Saturday, November 14. The festival’s home and central venue will be the Bill Cosford Cinema, with screenings also held at the Miami Beach Cinematheque on Española Way and Miami Children’s Museum on Watson Island. USpeak: open verse and story performance

Speak into the open mic on Friday, November 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oasis Deli Café in the Whitten University Center, as the Creative Writing program features Matt Gajewski, radio host of Pure Imagination and story writer, as part of its USpeak series. Pure Imagination features Gajewski’s darkly comic short stories set to music by UM composers, as well as improvised faux documentaries. Enjoy an evening of fiction, poetry, and music, whether you’re there to perform or to listen. USpeak will be taped and broadcast by WVUM, UM’s student radio station, and is sponsored in part by the UM Citizens Board and Auxiliary Services. The event is free and open to the public.
