The University of Miami School of Law will hold an open house for prospective law students on Tuesday, November 24 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The open house will include a welcome and brief overview of the many offerings and opportunities at the law school, followed by a Q&A. Administrators will discuss the admissions process, financial aid, scholarships, and careers in law. During a panel discussion, current School of Law students will discuss their experiences in law school, and first-, second- and third-year students will answer questions about how to prepare for and succeed in law school. Optional tours of the School of Law will be followed by an informal luncheon. To register for the open house, visit www.law.miami.edu/rsvp.

“A Symposium on H1N1 Influenza,” sponsored by Sigma Xi and the Leonard and Jayne Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy, will be held Tuesday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cox Science building, room 126. The symposium will feature talks by UM scientists on various aspects of H1N1 influenza and will include an opportunity for questions and discussion. Speakers include Gio Baracco, associate professor in the Division of Infectious diseases at the Miller School of Medicine and medical director of the infection prevention and control program at Miami VA Healthcare System; John Beier, professor and codirector of the Center for Global Health Sciences, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Miller School of Medicine, and faculty-affiliated member of the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy; and Shigui Ruan, professor in the Department of Mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences.
