The University of Miami’s School of Architecture will host a lecture by renowned architect Michael Graves, on Thursday, March 24 at 6 p.m. at the Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center, Glasgow Hall. Graves will present “A Grand Tour.”
Graves, founder of Michael Graves & Associates and Michael Graves Design Group, is credited with broadening the role of the architect in society and raising public interest in good design as essential to the quality of everyday life. In 1960 Graves was awarded the American Academy in Rome’s prestigious Prix de Rome. Having just completed his graduate studies in architecture, he embarked on a Grand Tour that led to a lifelong fascination with the landscape, culture, and history of Italy, which have greatly influenced his approach to architecture, design, art, and the redesign of The Warehouse, Graves’s personal residence in Princeton, New Jersey. In his lecture, Graves will discuss how his time in Rome left an indelible mark on his life and work.
The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit www.arc.miami.edu.
