Holly Neville, assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the Miller School of Medicine, will present: “Update 2011 – Pediatric Surgical Issues That Will Prohibit Reduced Health Care Spending” on Thursday, March 31, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Rosenstiel Medical Science Building, fourth-floor auditorium. Upon completion of this lecture, participants will be able to discuss pediatric surgical issues such as obesity, preterm delivery, and IVF. The University of Miami Leonard M. Hood, professor of hearing and speech sciences at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center, Vanderbilt University, will present “Understanding Cochlear and Auditory Peripheral Neural Function Using Sensitive Physiologic Approaches.” This lecture will provide information about cochlear and peripheral neural auditory characteristics in carriers of genes related to hearing loss, older individuals, and patients with diabetes.
