The Departments of International Studies and Political Science will present “The Forum on Armed Conflict and Humanitarian Crises: Western Hemisphere Drug Trafficking” on Tuesday, March 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whitten Learning Center, Room 110.
The forum will be moderated by Ramon E. de Arrigunaga, lieutenant colonel, United States Air Force (retired). Bruce Bagley, professor and chair of the Department of International Studies, will speak on “From Colombia to Mexico: The War on Drugs in the Western Hemisphere.” Bradford R. McGuinn, of the Department of Political Science, will present “Drug Trafficking and the West African Security Complex,” and Captain Scott Cantfil, U.S. Navy (retired), Joint Interagency Task Force-South Liaison Officer to Southcom, will speak on “Interdicting Western Hemisphere Drug Traffic.”

Three of the University of Miami’s top faculty members will be honored on Tuesday, March 29 at 5 p.m. in Storer Auditorium at the School of Business Administration, when the Faculty Senate hosts a combined ceremony for its top awards. UM President Donna E. Shalala is scheduled to attend.
Richard J. Thurer, B. and Donald Carlin Professor of Thoracic Surgical Oncology at the Miller School of Medicine, will receive the James W. McLamore Outstanding Service Award; Steven G. Ullmann, professor and director of Programs in Health Sector Management and Policy at the School of Business Administration, will receive the Outstanding Teaching Award; and Charles S. Carver, professor of psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, will receive the Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award and present the lecture “Studies in the Self-Regulation of Behavior.” To view the e-vite online, click here.
