Linderman's "Timeline of Digestion"
UM Master of Fine Arts candidate Lucinda Linderman’s latest exhibition, Upcycled, transforms all manner of regularly discarded packaging—color-saturated plastic bags and containers, tin and aluminum cans, glass, graphic printed paper labels and wrappers—into fascinating sculptures mirroring her reverence for nature, her interest in living organisms, and her impatience with the increasing amount of garbage sent to landfills. Her show is a collection of pieces that, at first glance, appear to be intensely colored and textured abstract fiber artworks. A closer look, however, reveals twisted plastic, interwoven candy wrappers, bottle and can labels, and bits of metal that have been turned into complexly decorated organic forms. The exhibition is on view at the Wynwood Project Space, from its opening reception on Saturday, September 12 from 6 to 11 p.m. until October 3. Wynwood Project Space is located at 2200A NW Second Ave., Miami. After the opening event, the gallery will open by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call 423-785-6412 or 305-967-1543, or e-mail [email protected] or [email protected]. Linderman’s work can be viewed at www.upcycledobject.com.
