The Lowe Art Museum hosts the LoweDown lecture “I’m Having an Art Attack!” on Thursday, September 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the museum (lecture at 7:30 p.m.). Travel Channel host Lee Sandstead, best known for bringing his passion for art to mainstream America, will share his love of all things art. During his illustrated presentation at the Lowe Art Museum, he will discuss his Travel Channel show “Art Attack with Lee Sandstead” and select works from the Lowe’s permanent collection. “This presentation is really about getting fired up for art,” Lee says. “Find out what makes me travel the world for art and learn some ways you too can get fired up for art.”
Ever since he took his first art-history class, Sandstead has been on one grand art adventure after another, scouring the world for great art. But last year, he started what may be his grandest art adventure of all when the first season of “Art Attack with Lee Sandstead” aired on the Travel Channel. The premise of “Art Attack” is to visit museums and look at five must-see pieces in a high-impact, high-energy fashion. With upbeat music, quick cuts, and great camera moves, the show is a raucous ride through America’s top museums.
Lowe Art Museum members will be admitted free; admission of non-members is $10. For more information, visit www.lowemuseum.org or call 305-284-3535.
