Smooth presentation skills are career-enhancing assets that build credibility for administrative professionals. As part of an Audio Conference Lunch and Learn Series, the Professional Development and Training Office is offering the audio conference, “Gain Credibility While Presenting Ideas: Polished Skills of Successful Assistants.” This program will explain ways to prepare a dynamic presentation, how to increase confidence and competence in your presentation skills, how to handle the toughest questions and situations in front of a group or in meetings, and the biggest presentation mistakes. The Frost School of Music presents a concert joining two of the nation’s most accomplished musicians, flutists Ervin Monroe and Trudy Kane. The free concert, titled “A Flute Gala,” will take place Thursday, September 24 at 8 p.m. in the Clarke Recital Hall. The performance will feature the music of Bach, Doppler, Gaubert, and Martinu, among others.
Ervin Monroe served as principal flute of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for 40 years. He has appeared in duo concerts with renowned artists such as the late Jean-Pierre Rampal. Monroe was president of the National Flute Association and founder and consulting editor of The Flutist Quarterly.
Trudy Kane, professor of music, joined UM after 32 seasons as principal flutist of the Metropolitan Opera from 1976-2008. She has had a commercial career performing on numerous film soundtracks. Her latest release is In the French Syle.
