James Wilson will be presenting a seminar for the Department of Biology called “Fluorescent Analogs and Fluorogenic Reactions: Shedding Light on Biological Systems” on Monday, September 28 from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m. in Cox 166. Dr. Wilson is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Miami. The focus of his research lies in conjugated polymers, novel fluorophores, fluorescence-based detection schemes, and organic materials. Dr. Wilson is developing a toolkit of fluorescent analogs of neuroactive compounds that can function as reporters of synaptic transmission and related processes.
